ENVIRON expands Australian operations with new offices in Melbourne and the Hunter Valley

Sydney, Austrailia, Feb. 28 - /EWire/ -- ENVIRON is pleased to announce the expansion of the firm's operations in Australia through the establishment of two new offices – Melbourne, Victoria, and Maitland, Hunter Valley, New South Wales. In making the announcement, Principal Gordon Sutcliffe emphasised, "Our new colleagues not only enhance our geographic scope and bring us closer to existing and prospective clients, they also significantly expand our capabilities to provide risk assessment, toxicology, and hydrogeology consulting services, which are increasingly important to our client base."

Dr. Sim Ooi, a Principal Consultant in Risk Assessment and Toxicology, will be coordinating ENVIRON's Asia-Pacific risk assessment and toxicology practice from the new Melbourne office. Sim is a toxicologist with over 10 years of experience managing and assessing health and environmental risks associated with chemical exposures at workplaces, contaminated sites, and industrial facilities. He is a leading risk specialist with extensive experience in the development of chemical standards for assessment and management of contaminated sites, chemical toxicity assessment, chemical fate and transport modelling (involving all media: soil, water and air), risk management, regulatory compliance, and project management.

Senior Manager Mr. Phillip Hitchcock, who will be leading the Hunter office practice, is a hydrogeologist with more than 20 years of consulting experience providing environmental advice related to groundwater, soil and groundwater contamination issues, and landfill design and operation. Over the past 15 years, he has conducted contaminated site assessments for nearly 400 separate projects, prepared Remedial Action Plans, and managed remediation projects. His project experience covers a broad range of sites and demonstrates a strong and diverse track record in contaminated site assessment and management. He is a contaminated site auditor, accredited by both the NSW EPA and Victorian EPA, and currently undertakes site audits in both those states and South Australia. Phil has published widely in the landfill, ground water, and contaminant fate and transport fields.
