ITT Industries' Flygt Books Record Order for China Wastewater Plant |
SHANGHAI, CHINA, Nov. 20 -/E-Wire/--
ITT Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ITT) will play a critical role in the construction of the new wastewater treatment plant in Shaoxing, a city of one million people on China's east coast, about 250 km south of Shanghai. ITT's Flygt unit has received a record order for 195 submersible mixers, plus all of the control equipment for the units. The plant, which will be able to handle 300,000 tons of waste per day, is the first wastewater treatment plant in Shaoxing, and will be built at a total cost of US$60 million. The order is Flygt's largest single order to date for mixers.
"Flygt China has broad experience in this arena, having won orders for the Beijing Gaobeidian sewage treatment plant, the largest in Asia, and the Zhengzhou sewage treatment plant, which was our largest order to date,' says Peter Mui, Sales & Marketing Director. "This latest order helps our position to capitalize on this growing market for wastewater treatment and related equipment. We are helping to meet the global need for innovative fluid handling technology that plays a key role in preserving the world's fresh water.'
The delta area of the Yangtze River on China's east coast is one of that country's most developed areas.Shaoxing's major industries include chemical fiber printing and dyeing, clothing and wine production. With no existing wastewater treatment plant, the water has been discharged directly into to the Yangtze River and then onto the East China Sea. The local government has taken the decision to build a wastewater treatment plant to tackle this problem.
