BRUCE ALLENDER ELECTED PRESIDENT OF WATER DESIGN-BUILD COUNCIL |
- Water industry expert brings thought leadership to a new era of collaborative Design-Build solutions - |
WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, Jan. 13 -/E-Wire/-- The Water Design-Build Council (WDBC) announced today that Bruce Allender has been elected as their new President. Allender serves as the Director of Business Development for Design-Build in North America for Black & Veatch's global water business. Driven by assembling strong and cohesive design-build teams, Allender specializes in supporting clients who are considering alternative delivery as part of their Capital Improvement Plan.
Allender began his career with Thames Water, working in alternative delivery (alliance, design-build, and design, build, own, operate and transfer or DBOOT) and operations & maintenance concession projects in Australia and Asia. In 1989, he joined Black & Veatch and, continuing his focus on alternative delivery, has held various positions in its global water business. He has worked specifically in the North American marketplace for the past nine years.
"It's an honor to lead an organization with a membership list that includes the leading companies in North America in the water and wastewater industry," Allender said. "My goal is to build upon the great work the organization has already done in educating communities and utilities about how to provide quality and sustainable solutions to the country's water and wastewater infrastructure through thought leadership in project delivery."
Design-build and construction management "at-risk" are two project delivery mechanisms that assist communities in delivering water and wastewater needs in a collaborative manner with cost and schedule certainty, two critical factors for many communities in these economic times, Allender said.
"As WDBC President, I'm committed to making the organization's thought leadership, expertise and informational resources available so we can continue to educate and assist community leaders in their important decision-making about how best to deliver their water and wastewater infrastructure needs," he added. "The Council's educational outreach effort will continue to focus on the President Obama Administration, Congress, governors, mayors and other municipal leaders."
