Economic Downturn Leads to Increase In Use of Electric Scooters & Bikes
SOUTH PASADENA, CALIFORNIA, Nov. 17 -/E-Wire/-- The recent economic downturn has caused a shift in electric scooter and bike buyer behavior. Electric scooters and bikes, typically purchased for recreational use, are experiencing an upswing in sales for transportation use.

Web based retailer, UrbanScooters.com, has noted a shift in buyer behavior. According to UrbanScooters.com President, Frank Minero, "…a dramatic change. It used to be the majority of customers wanted scooters for recreation or their kids. Now two of every three calls we get are from folks looking for a cheaper way to get to work."

UrbanScooters.com customer David Carlos, a Long Beach, CA. resident, commented, "Gas prices were a big part of it," he said. "And this is a lot more fun. Now I look over at the freeway and thank God I'm not on it."

The average car gets 22 m.p.g. in the city, so if you fill a 15 gallon tank with $4.00/gallon gas, that is $60.00 to fill up a car that will take you less than 330 miles. Electric scooters and electric bikes cost less than $0.10 to charge and average 15+ miles per charge. Gas scooters typically get over 100 mpg.

UrbanScooters.com's newest customer service employee Pete Selders has reported savings of over $100.00 per month due to his new Electric Bicycle conversion. " The only time I stop at a gas station is to get a drink!", stated Pete, " I used to fill up for $56.00, sometimes more than one time a week too." When asked how much it costs to operate his new Electric bicycle, Pete said, "Well, my electric bill is usually around $30.00, and I plug the bike in every day when I get home from work, so I would say that it costs less than ten cents a day to operate as I use lights, fans, refrigerator, television, A/C's, and other electric necessities as well."

About UrbanScooters.com UrbanScooters.com is America's #1 online destination for brand name electric scooters, gas scooters, push scooters, electric bikes, pocket bikes, parts and accessories.
