Ecological Footprint Quiz Points the Way towards Sustainable Living
OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA, Apr. 8 -/E-Wire/-- Oakland, Calif. April 7, 2008 – Today, Oakland-based Redefining Progress will launch a much anticipated new version of what Time magazine dubbed as one of the 50 best websites of 2007—the Ecological Footprint Quiz found at myfootprint.org. Members of the press are invited to preview a beta version of the Quiz at kingadow.com/footprint.

Originally released in 2002, the ecological footprint is one of the world’s most well-known measures of sustainability. The redesigned Quiz calculates an individual’s ecological footprint based on 27 lifestyle questions related to their energy use and transportation habits, housing choices, food choices, and selection of goods and services. Millions of people in 145 countries have been using the quiz as a personal roadmap for ecologically conscientious living.

Built by Redefining Progress and international web developer Kinga Dow Productions, the new Quiz reflects state of the art footprint methodology, addresses emerging issues such as carbon offsets, and creates an online forum to build a community of stakeholders committed to maintaining and improving the accuracy and relevancy of the quiz over time.

MAJOR FEATURES OF THE NEW ONLINE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT QUIZ

Will be available in 5 languages and 145 countries.

Employs the latest techniques in footprint science to provide as accurate an accounting as possible of the impacts of our individual consumption decisions.

Loaded with in-depth information on current sustainability issues such as urban sprawl, energy and water saving features in the home, and localization, as well as useful guidelines for reducing the size of your footprint.
