Hastings AAMCO Center First in Minnesota to be Certified ‘Eco-Green’ |

HASTINGS, PENNSYLVANIA, Mar. 20 -/E-Wire/--
Hastings, Mn.—March 18, 2008—AAMCO Transmissions, Inc recently announced another of its centers has passed the rigorous ‘Eco-Green’ certification process. The AAMCO center, located at 460 Spiral Blvd. in Hastings, Mn. met a rigorous new standard established by AAMCO as part of a national effort to green the auto industry. John Hoeft, owner of the Hastings AAMCO received the distinction based on his center making a positive environmental impact on the community, while giving AAMCO customers a new range of services and products that cut emissions, improve mileage, and reduce the hazardous waste associated with operating an automotive repair facility.

"AAMCO’s Eco-Green certification establishes a new standard for the industry that makes good business and environmental sense," says John Hoeft, owner of the Hastings, Mn. AAMCO Transmissions center. "The country is more environmentally aware, and, given the choice, motorists are more likely to choose an environmentally responsible service center."

In order to receive Eco-Green certification, the center switched to environmentally friendly solvents, and invested in new technologies to recycle them and eliminate waste. In addition, the program requires the center to manage and contain waste water runoff, install energy-efficient lighting and heating, use water-based alternatives to hazardous cleaning chemicals, and recycle used filters and components.

The impact of Eco-Green also will be seen in green services and products offered by the center to Hastings motorists. For example, AAMCO’s new Eco-Green Tune-Up uses a lifetime air filter and an extended life oil filter to reduce landfills, and synthetic oil to preserve natural resources and eliminate hazardous waste. Platinum spark plugs help burn fuel efficiently and last longer. And special checks of engine control sensors assure motorists the highest possible mileage-- all while helping to reduce emissions.

Hastings AAMCO Technicians have also been specially trained to install EPA-certified E-85 Flex-Fuel Smart-Box conversion kits. AAMCO’s E85 conversion kit lets a car use any blend of ethanol, without flipping a switch or emptying the gasoline tank. E-85 fuel makes it possible for fleet managers to help America reduce its carbon footprint and dependence on foreign oil. It also costs 17% less, on average, than gasoline. The conversions will initially be focused on fleet vehicles —the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Car models, which are the most widely-used vehicles for livery, municipal fleets and police departments.
