The Water Design-Build Council to release The Municipal Water and Wastewater Design-Build Handbook at the 2008 Design-Build Water/Wastewater Conference in Atlanta
A new industry-standard reference for municipalities considering practical design-build solutions -
WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, Feb. 13 -/E-Wire/-- Design-build project delivery for water and wastewater systems is gaining favor as a practical and cost-effective option for city and municipal leaders across the country. To provide a clear and comprehensive overview of this alternative delivery method in which owners work with a single source for both design and construction, the Water Design-Build Council (WDBC) has created an informative best-practices guide entitled The Municipal Water and Wastewater Design-Build Handbook.

Drawing on the experiences of both municipalities and design-builders, the new Handbook provides a step-by-step guide for achieving the benefits of design-build and avoiding common pitfalls. "This superbly produced booklet fills an immediate need as more and more communities examine the design-build process. Speaking for the Council, we are very pleased with the results," says the Water Design-Build Council?s president, Joe Adams, president of MWH Constructors. "It will be a must-have for municipal officials considering a design-build project for the first time."

The Municipal Water and Wastewater Design-Build Handbook is a 57-page booklet that addresses the full range of design and construction considerations that municipalities must weigh when evaluating the advantages of design-build. The Handbook features interviews with more than 35 experts in using design-build for water and wastewater projects, including executives of more than 20 communities. Employing a four-color, magazine-style format, the Handbook is supported throughout by illustrative photographs and diagrams.

This special publication will be unveiled at the 2008 Design-Build Water/Wastewater Conference, to be held February 13-15, 2008, at the Weston Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta, Georgia. Each participant will receive a free copy as part of their conference materials. The Handbook will subsequently be available to the public as a free download for visitors to the Water Design-Build Council's website at www.waterdesignbuild.org. Those wishing to obtain the actual Handbook should contact Marisha Hopson at the WDBC at 202-833-1950.

About the Water Design-Build Council The Water Design-Build Council is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting best practices for the application of design-build in water and wastewater projects in North America. Above all, these best practices should enable owners to realize the full value of design-build: superior design and construction, speed, cost savings, and focused accountability.
