A Partnershop To Raise Children's Health Awareness With 'Creating Healthy Environments For Children' DVD |
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, Oct. 29 -/E-Wire/-- Empowering parents and caregivers nationwide to create healthier environments for families, a new DVD release from Healthy Child Healthy World, in partnership with Shaklee Corporation, has raised over $40,000 for the non-profit since the launch of the video at Shaklee's national conference in August 2007.
The Creating Healthy Environments for Children DVD provides information on the 5 Easy Steps for Homes, Childcare Centers and Schools and is designed to engage and empower parents, teachers, school administrators and child care professionals with the simple steps they can take every day on behalf of children's health.
The partnership is a natural fit: Healthy Child has been the nation's leading non-profit in the area of children's environmental health for over 17 years, and since its launch in 1960, Shaklee has become the nation's number-one natural nutrition company and the maker of one of the first biodegradable and non-toxic household cleaners.
The DVD is available November for $12.95 at HealthyChild.org and features Amy Brenneman as host and the music of Ben Harper. The DVD includes information on the basics of children's environmental health and easy steps we all can take to prevent harm. When the disc is loaded into a computer, three Tool Kits (one for homes, one for child care centers and one for schools) offer fact sheets, quizzes and additional resources detailing exactly how to reduce risks in each setting. In addition, a User Guide describes how to get the community involved in this crucial issue, and an Advocacy Guide explains how to reach out on behalf of children in the community, including sample letters-to-the editor, community organizing ideas and more.

Helmed by CEO / Executive Director Christopher Gavigan, Healthy Child Healthy World works to educate the public about the environmental toxins that can affect our children's health, growth and development. "Learning about these dangers can be alarming to parents," says Christopher Gavigan. "But it's simple, easy and cost-effective to make small changes that add up to healthier futures for our children. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something."
