CarbonTracker Network Launched |
International Network of High-Quality Carbon Offset Vendors Formed |

Sustainable Travel International (US), co2balance (UK) and Offsetters Climate Neutral Society (Canada) have joined with CarbonTracker.com to form the CarbonTracker Network. The CarbonTracker Network is a voluntary, cooperative effort to promote the goals of quality, reliability and transparency in the voluntary carbon offset market. This international collaboration is the first of its kind in the voluntary offset market.

The voluntary carbon market continues to grow by leaps and bounds- in the last five years, the number of organizations supplying carbon credits into the market has doubled. This increase in the number of carbon vendors presents individuals and businesses with both unprecedented options as well as new challenges. "The proliferation of vendors, industry standards, methods of generating offsets and evolving technologies can make it difficult to navigate the field," explained Matthew Collins, founder of CarbonTracker.com. "While offsets are a great way to neutralize those emissions that you cannot avoid, choosing a responsible vendor of high-quality offsets can be an involved process."
