Jackie Downes joins ENVIRON's WEEE, RoHS and Eco-Design practice |

BATH, ENGLAND, May. 11 -/E-Wire/--
Dr. Aidan Turnbull, Head of ENVIRON's WEEE, RoHS and Eco-Design practice, is pleased to announce that Jackie Downes has joined the practice as a Manager based in the Bath, UK, office. Jackie brings to the firm over eleven years of experience in environmental management consultancy with a focus on waste management, recycling, and producer responsibility. Prior to joining ENVIRON, Jackie spent four years supporting the UK Department of Trade and Industry in the area of producer responsibility, including WEEE, packaging, ELVs, and batteries.

According to Turnbull, "Jackie's experience and expertise provide an ideal platform to broaden the range of producer responsibility services and solutions available to our clients. She is particularly interested in setting up systems for our clients to facilitate compliance with the take-back and recycling requirements in the EC Batteries Directive, which takes effect in 2007." This initiative will draw upon the success of ENVIRON's existing web-based pan-European collection and recycling system for business-to-business WEEE.

Jackie has worked for both the public and private sectors on a variety of waste management consultancy projects, ranging from policy and strategic studies for Government clients through to practical legislative and technical advice on specific issues for private-sector clients. Recently, she has worked extensively on implementation issues of the WEEE and RoHS Directives, including conducting a series of workshops and training sessions for industry in the UK, the US, and Asia. Other studies have included assessments of recycling capacity for WEEE across Europe, treatment operations for waste products, and survey development for the RoHS Directive.
