For many years, the majority of growers have been using plastic mulch to prevent weeds and to increase soil temperatures. At the end of the season, the growers must remove the plastic mulch and dispose of it in land fill sites which generates costs and is not ecological.

BioTelo Agri is the end result of a new Italian technology. This new mulch is exclusively made of Mater-Bi, a corn starch based raw material (without any genetically modified elements) which allows micro organisms in the soil to transform the mulch in water, carbon dioxide, and biomass. No toxic residue is left in the soil which helps to reduce considerably the impact on the environment especially in regards to the warming of the planet, the quality of the water and soil. The total biodegradability of BioTelo Agri is controlled by the OWS Institute (Organic Waste System), who delivered the OK COMPOST certificate and also with other international institutes such as ECOCERT, AIB VINCOTTE, DIN CERTCO, etc.

Tests made on BioTelo Agri show that we get the same agronomical parameters and productivity as for plastic mulch films and in some cases, even better results. For the last 3 years, more than 3200 hectares (8000 acres) of BioTelo Agri have been used in Europe. BioTelo Agri is exclusively distributed in North America by Dubois Agrinovation. It is available in 2 types of duration: 4 and 6 months. A 24-month mulch is also offered on a trial basis only.
