Little Evidence of Man-Made Global Warming:
TechCentralStation's Sallie Baliunas Testifies Before Congress |

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA, Mar. 12 -/E-Wire/-- Dr. Sallie Baliunas, co-host of Tech Central Station, will testify tomorrow, Wednesday, March 13, before the full Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works.

The committee is conducting a hearing to receive testimony on the economic and environmental risks associated with increasing greenhouse gas emissions. The testimony will take place at 9:30 am in the Dirksen Senate Office Building.

Dr. Baliunas' testimony, entitled "New Scientific Advances: The Human Impact on Global Climate Change,' will challenge the Committee to focus on research to improve "observations and computer simulations' to determine accurately the human contribution to global warming. According to Baliunas, sound science illustrates that the human contribution to the warming trend has been insignificant.

Baliunas warns against enacting proposals like Kyoto that are costly and offer little to no benefit. "Proposals like the Kyoto agreement to sharply cut greenhouse gas emissions are estimated in most economic studies to have enormous economic, social and environmental costs. The cost estimates for the U.S. alone amount to $100 billion to $400 billion per year. Those costs would fall disproportionately on America's and the world's elderly and poor.'

Sallie Baliunas, Ph.D. is an Astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics and Deputy Director of Mount Wilson Observatory. Dr. Baliunas serves as Senior Scientist at the George C. Marshall Institute in Washington, DC, and chairs the Institute's Science Advisory Board.
